About IT-ISQS

About IT-ISQS

The motivation for our project stems from the global lack of awareness and application of International Software Quality Standards (ISQS) in the IT sector. Despite heavy reliance on software across industries, poor quality continues to cause project failures, financial loss, and even critical harm. The Standish Group (2020) reported only a 31% project success rate. ISO/IEC standards guide quality in all stages of the software lifecycle but require expert knowledge, posing challenges especially in agile environments. Studies (Giachetti et al., 2023; Koyuncu Tunç et al., 2024; Akdur, 2020-2021) show that ISQS education is severely lacking, with less than 12% of Computer Engineering and 33% of Software Engineering programs offering relevant courses in Turkey. To address this gap, curricula must be updated with integrated ISQS topics, dedicated courses, and practical teaching methods. Funding is essential to improve course quality, engagement, and prepare students with skills demanded by the industry.
